In That Great Gettin' Up Morning

Leonard de Paur was a giant in American choral music. His De Paur Infantry Chorus was a popular, eclectic ensemble that recorded a wide range of musical styles, but was noted for their interpretations of traditional African-American spirituals and work songs. I'm not usually drawn to formal arrangements of this traditional black music, but this powerful performance - a vision of The Rapture, no less - pulls me in every time. Play it loud.

Did you see them coffins bustin?
Did you see them folks risin'?
