In this true story, Ina Enserink tells about growing up on a freight ship that regularly traveled from the Netherlands down the Rhine and its many tributaries all the way to Paris, France.

The Deurwaarder family had ten children, of which Ina was the oldest. In this book she recalls the years of the Great Depression, followed by World War II. During the last war year Ina found a social life, and eventually courtship and marriage.
